The Eyebrow Lift

Years of expressing emotions, such as laughing, frowning or grimacing, raising the eyebrows and other such movements, eventually begin to show up clearly on our faces as we age. Some people are bothered by these lines and wrinkles, as well as crow’s feet and other facial creases that become visible and noticeable, including marionette lines, smile lines and smokers lines.

Moreover, another issue that manifests itself is the droop in the eyebrow area, and the skin of the upper eyelid becomes more prominent. This is just another aspect to the body’s aging cycle. However, treatments are available to help smooth these brow lines or sagging eyebrows, and return a more youthful appearance, in the form of what is termed  an eyebrow lift, or brow lift.

Eyebrow Lift

What will it do for me?

A true eyebrow or brow lift is in fact a surgical procedure. The treatment will help to improve:

  • Forehead creases and the lines on the upper portion of the nose
  • Frown lines, which  are softened
  • If the brow is beginning to cover the upper eyelid, that is raised
  • Makes the eyes, brows and foehead look younger and more alert.

Often this procedure is part of an overall anti-aging makeover which will also have work done on the eyelids, possibly a surgical facelift, and reesurfacing of the facial skin by chemical or laser peels.

Can I avoid surgery?

The surgical procedure will be the most long-lasting and effective method for the eyebrow lift, but many cosmetic specialists now also use Botox® injections to raise the eyebrows and minimize forehead, or brow wrinkles. The aim of this treatment is to inject Botox into the muscles that cause the eyelid droop, which weakens the muscle, and that raises the eyebrow. Over time, the muscles become trained, with repeated injections, and the droop factor is minimized.

The major advantage of this approach is the short treatment time, and the avoidance of surgery or long recovery. Use of Botox® may also play a significant part in delaying the need for actual browlift surgery, either by actual incisions or endoscopically.

Similarly, injections into the forehead area smooth the creases and brow furrows.

Is it Permanent?

Wouldn’t it be great to say that all anti-aging treatments were permanent?

No, regrettably, neither the surgical or the non-invasive Botox® options are a permanent solution. Aging goes on, no matter what.

The results of the surgery may last for a year or so, and Botox® lasts about 3-6 months for most people, after which it will be required to be done again.

However, even the repeat injection path is ultimately less costly, painful or inconvenient, and produces excellent results.

Speak to your specialist about additional Botox or dermal filler rejuvenation options that can be done over a  course of treatments for a full face makeover.

Your friends and family simply wil not believe their eyes.
